WE HAVE A PASSION...

Picture
. . . A passion for healthy,  sustainable food.
Our mission is to provide an expanding variety of healthy organic produce year round to local consumers.  We strive to make our products easily accessible to people who want to make healthy choices for their families and the environment.
Meadowbrook Farm is a family owned and operated business located just south of Salmo, BC. We've been growing organic greens here since 1998 and took on Kootenay Sprouts in 2004. We primarily supply grocery stores and restaurants in the West Kootenay with sprouts and salad greens.  All of our products are delivered within 24 hours of harvest and travel less than 50 km, resulting in some of the freshest local produce available.
Meadowbrook makes regular donations to food banks and soup kitchens for those who might not be able to otherwise eat fresh and local. We also welcome farm tours and school groups in an effort to educate  and inspire our community.
We are certified through COABC - Certified Organic Association of BC and our facilities are inspected and licensed by Interior Health.

KOOTENAY SPROUTS - FRESH & CRISP

Picture
We grow 8 varieties of sprouts, alfalfa and clover are the most popular, but we also provide broccoli, onion, salad crunch savory deli and five bean mix.

The sprouts are grown year round in a controlled environment. Precise temperature and moisture along with strict sanitation regimes are critical to the sprouts growth.

They grow on a weekly cycle and like our salad greens we deliver them to our customers within 24 hours of harvest. Sprouts are best when fresh and crisp, and they last for over two weeks if stored properly.

Sprouts can be purchased through local retailers in clam shells and you'll find them in sandwiches around the Kootenays.

MEET THE OWNERS

PictureLaura & Kevin Stavast
Laura grew up on Meadowbrook Farm and attended school in Salmo along with Kevin who was raised in Salmo as well. As young adults, Kevin and Laura left Salmo and made their home in Calgary where Kevin managed a construction company and Laura chose a career in human resources. Later, when they started a family, they agreed that they'd like to raise their children back home where they could be close to their families. Meanwhile, during their years away, Laura's parents, George and Maurgo Wilson were busy growing greens and building the Meadowbrook Farm and Kootenay Sprouts businesses. About the time Kevin and Laura were ready to move back home, George and Maurgo were ready to retire from full time farming. They made the leap, assumed the day to day operations of the farm and continue to thrive today.
